Matching Gift Programs Help Donors Multiply Their Own Giving

We’re grateful to have received several matching gifts in recent months by residents and their employers.  “Matching Gift” programs exist at many companies and are a great way to increase your own contribution to LLCC – you donate a dollar, they donate a dollar. Oftentimes, even companies which do not have established matching programs remain equally eager to participate if asked. If you’d like help arranging a gift with your own employer, please don’t hesitate to contact us at treasurer@lindberghlavista.org.

LLCC is a 501(c)(3) public charity, and all gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

Clifton Corridor Transit Initiative Survey Results

LLCC distributed an earlier survey in August and September of 2011 in an effort to gather and organize community feedback regarding the proposed Clifton Corridor Transit Initiative (CCTI).  Heather Alhadeff, Senior Transportation Planner, with Perkins + Will, who has been hired by LLCC to provide technical assistance to the LLCC community, has shared these survey results with MARTA.  LLCC is pleased to see much of the community’s feedback incorporated and considered by MARTA in its Alternatives Analysis.

Update on Cheshire Bridge Road Improvements

Harriet Hoskyns-Abrahall

The City of Atlanta tells us that the improvement under way will go from Wellbourne to 2100 Cheshire Bridge Road which is the block just north of the bridge over the creek where the Red Snapper restaurant is located. The project is expected to take 75 days, depending on the weather, so with any luck, it should be complete sometime in February.

Regrettably, no landscaping or lighting is so far planned for this part of Cheshire Bridge, so your LLCC will be lobbying hard to have them included to match the southern section of Cheshire Bridge. The project is being funded by Transportation Impact Fees (TIF) whose funds are limited.

The City' goals are to "beautify arterials and improve connectivity and pedestrian safety." They want us to know that they appreciate the efforts of the community who work to maintain cleanliness of our sidewalk areas by clearing debris and trimming overgrowth that abuts our individual properties. They request that, while construction continues, travelers should use caution, and observe posted work signs and extra traffic regulations in the area. A word of praise here for Sarah Hailey, and now Jennifer Jones, and their crews who, through their monthly Litter Pick-Ups, do much to supplement what individual homeowners and businesses undertake to keep our community clean.

The Lindbergh LaVista Corridor Coalition

The Lindbergh LaVista Corridor Coalition is a 501(c)(3) public non-profit corporation comprised of concerned residents and businesses of Lindridge-Martin Manor, LaVista Park, and Woodland Hills. We have completed a 30-year visionary study and now plan to fund, adapt, and implement certain ideas from that Blueprints for Successful Communities Study that we determine are feasible.

To do this, we are bringing in outside expertise of the international urban design firm Perkins+Will to help us first develop a Strategic Plan and Urban Design Guidelines for the community.

Our goal is for our actions to have a positive influence on the changes that face us, now and in the future.
